Ticketmaster launches connected app in Google’s Gemini, a day after the AI assistant passed 1B monthly users

Ticketmaster says it has launched an app inside Google‘s Gemini, letting fans search for live events through a conversation with the AI assistant.

The Live Nation-owned ticketing company announced the integration on Wednesday (August 12).

It landed a day after Google said the Gemini app had passed 1 billion monthly active users.

Google framed it differently, listing Ticketmaster among connected apps it would roll out “over the next few weeks,” in an announcement made at its Made by Google event the same day.

Fans connect Ticketmaster as an app within Gemini, then invoke @Ticketmaster when asking about concerts, sports, theater and festivals in everyday language.

Gemini returns event information, seating options and ticket prices, and fans who pick an option are sent through to Ticketmaster with their seats already selected.

Example prompts listed in the announcement include “What concerts are happening in Chicago this weekend?” and “Find me two tickets to a football match under $150.”

Ticketmaster said in a blog post for event organizers that eligible events are surfaced automatically based on relevant fan searches, with no additional implementation required from clients.

Ticketmaster‘s new connected app in Gemini allows fans to more easily find their favorite events using natural conversation. Gemini can fetch event options and real-time inventory availability, helping fans compare ticket options. Transactions are completed on Ticketmaster‘s marketplace, ensuring every purchase is protected by Ticketmaster‘s security enhancements and terms of use,” the company said in a statement to MBW.

The app runs in English on Gemini‘s web, iOS and Android versions for users based in the US, and will scale to further languages and markets over time.

Ticketmaster‘s Gemini integration is the latest addition to its suite of AI implementations built on its MCP (model context protocol),” the company told MBW, adding that its listings are also carried in Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Claude and Amazon Alexa+.

That points to a single layer being rolled out across assistants rather than a bespoke build for each: the example prompts published for Gemini are identical to those Ticketmaster issued for its Claude launch in July.

Ticketmaster told event organizers they would gain visibility in what it called “one of the world’s fastest-growing AI platforms” without additional setup.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said on August 11 that the Gemini app had crossed 1 billion monthly active users, making it the company’s 14th product to reach that mark.

Alphabet had reported 950 million monthly active users for the app in its second-quarter earnings release on July 22.

Ticketmaster launched its app inside ChatGPT in April, when OpenAI put the chatbot’s weekly active user count at 900 million.

It added a Claude connector on July 15, an integration now live in more than 20 countries, against the US-only Gemini rollout.

Its first AI tie-up with Google came in November 2025, when it became what it called an “early commerce partner” for agentic capabilities in AI Mode in Google Search, then an opt-in experiment open to US users aged 18 and over.

Rival SeatGeek launched its own ChatGPT integration on March 31, and says it was the first ticketing platform to carry both primary and resale inventory inside the chatbot.

Ticketmaster generated revenue of USD $852 million in Q2 2026, up 15% YoY, on 90 million fee-bearing tickets sold, up 8%.

Reported fee-bearing gross transaction value rose 15% to more than USD $10 billion in the quarter, according to Live Nation’s Q2 results.

Ticketmaster‘s adjusted operating income rose 14% YoY to USD $331 million in the quarter, ahead of the USD $309.6 million posted by Live Nation‘s Concerts division, which generated more than seven times the revenue. Concerts AOI fell 14% YoY, which the company attributed to the timing of stadium shows, venue pre-opening costs and new international festivals.

Those results landed while Live Nation and Ticketmaster contest an April jury verdict that found they illegally monopolized the US ticketing and amphitheater markets. Judge Arun Subramanian heard arguments on the companies’ post-trial motions on July 31 and has yet to rule.

Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino said alongside those results: “In a world of endless screens and AI-generated everything, the one thing that can’t be copied is being there.”Music Business Worldwide

Ticketmaster has announced the launch of a new app within Google’s Gemini, allowing fans to search for live events through conversational AI. This integration, revealed on August 12, coincided with Google’s announcement that Gemini had reached over 1 billion monthly active users. Google highlighted Ticketmaster as one of several connected apps that would be rolled out in the weeks to come during its Made by Google event.

The integration functions by allowing users to connect Ticketmaster as an app in Gemini and invoke it using the @Ticketmaster command. Users can inquire about various events such as concerts, sports, theater, and festivals using everyday language. The Gemini AI assistant will provide information about events, seating options, and ticket prices. When users select an option, they are redirected to Ticketmaster with their seats already chosen. Example prompts for users include questions like, “What concerts are happening in Chicago this weekend?” or “Find me two tickets to a football match under $150.”

Ticketmaster also stated in a blog aimed at event organizers that eligible events will automatically appear based on relevant searches by fans, requiring no extra setup from the organizers. The integration enhances the user experience by simplifying the process of finding events through natural conversation. Gemini can provide real-time inventory availability, helping users compare ticket options efficiently. All transactions are completed on Ticketmaster’s marketplace, ensuring that purchases are protected by its security measures and terms of service.

Currently, the app operates in English across Gemini’s web, iOS, and Android versions for users in the United States, with plans to expand to other languages and markets in the future. Ticketmaster indicated that this integration is part of a broader strategy that includes various AI implementations based on its Model Context Protocol (MCP). The company also noted that its listings are featured in other AI platforms, including Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Claude, and Amazon Alexa. This suggests that Ticketmaster is rolling out a standardized interface across different AI platforms rather than customizing solutions for each.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai confirmed on August 11 that the Gemini app had surpassed 1 billion monthly active users, marking it as the 14th Google product to achieve this milestone. This figure represents a growth from the 950 million monthly active users reported in Alphabet’s Q2 earnings release on July 22. Ticketmaster had previously launched its app within ChatGPT in April, when OpenAI reported that the chatbot had 900 million weekly active users. The company also introduced a connector for Claude on July 15, which is available in more than 20 countries, compared to the US-only rollout of Gemini.

Ticketmaster’s initial partnership with Google began in November 2025, when it became an “early commerce partner” for AI capabilities in Google Search, which was then an opt-in experiment for US users aged 18 and over. In contrast, its competitor, SeatGeek, launched its own integration with ChatGPT on March 31, claiming to be the first ticketing platform to offer both primary and resale inventory through the chatbot.

Financially, Ticketmaster reported a revenue of $852 million in Q2 2026, representing a 15% increase year-over-year, with 90 million fee-bearing tickets sold, up 8%. The gross transaction value for fee-bearing tickets rose by 15% to over $10 billion for that quarter. Ticketmaster’s adjusted operating income increased by 14% to $331 million, outperforming the $309.6 million reported by Live Nation’s Concerts division, which generated significantly more revenue but saw a 14% decrease in adjusted operating income year-over-year. Live Nation attributed the decline in Concerts AOI to factors such as the timing of stadium shows, venue pre-opening expenses, and new international festivals.

These results were released while Live Nation and Ticketmaster were contesting a jury verdict from April that found them guilty of illegally monopolizing the US ticketing and amphitheater markets. A judge had heard post-trial arguments on July 31 but had not yet made a ruling. In light of these developments, Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino remarked on the importance of real-life experiences in a world dominated by screens and AI-generated content, emphasizing that “the one thing that can’t be copied is being there.”

In summary, Ticketmaster’s integration into Google’s Gemini represents a significant advancement in how fans can discover and purchase tickets for live events. By utilizing AI technology, Ticketmaster is enhancing user engagement and streamlining the ticket-buying process, while also navigating a complex legal landscape and maintaining strong financial performance.
